Defaults Don't Always Work

We remain open to all technologies, all configurations, and all ideas ⌁ because our guiding principle is simple:

If it works, we use it. If it doesn’t, we don’t.

The default settings aren’t wrong, but they're only a starting point. In one place it might give you flawless performance, while in another it might be crowded, noisy, or completely unusable. Things like walls, metal structures, other wireless systems, power lines, and even people can change how RF behaves. That’s why there’s no universal “best” frequency you can just set once and forget.

Test and Test AGAIN

The only reliable method is to test your environment. Try multiple frequencies, check performance, and see what holds up. A few minutes of testing usually saves hours of frustration. Every space has its own RF fingerprint. What works great in one place may not in another, and the best solution will always come from testing. Many communities on MeshCore have found that the default settings do not suit their environment.

Don't be tied to a single setting

RF isn’t static — it’s constantly shaped by what’s around it. A frequency that was clean yesterday might be noisy today. As density grows, settings may have to be tweaked. As we invite others to join our community, their RF environment may be different, so they will need to test to find their perfect frequency.
